THE CHALLENGE
Located 30 kilometers from Abu Dhabi, Masdar City aims to be the world's first zero-carbon, zero-waste and car-free city. The city is constantly looking for new technologies that fulfil its mission and communication strategies to raise awareness around its revolutionary urban model.
WHAT VM PROPOSED
Visual Metrics ran a series of workshops on circular economy and how it could be integrated into the city's new central park. We integrated technologies, predominantly with Australian technologies in them to create a 550m2 edible greenwall in the desert.
WHAT MASDAR ACHIEVED
Visual Metrics also proposed an integrated urban composting strategy aligned with Masdar goals to reduce CO2 emissions from organic urban solid waste and contribute to mitigate landfill waste. We developed a concept is based on a circular management model, where a wide range of organic wastes are recycled as compost in agricultural applications, parks and citizens’ gardens.
