NSW EPA - State of the Environment
Digital Report Website
The Challenge
The Environmental Protection Agency of NSW (EPA) had a legislative requirement to digitise their State of the Environment report. This report takes data from over 8 government agencies and although released annually has to encompass monthly updates on some of the 35+ data sets. The new site needed to pass all WCAG 2.0 and AA Accessibility ratings, fit in with the EPA's brand guidelines and be simple for end users to use.
Our Approach
We designed a site map that allowed for simple and replicable page templates across the EPA's varied themes and report content. We ran UI/UX workshops with all stakeholders (internal to the EPA, other agencies, education and public) to confirm that the layouts and user interfaces were clear and simple to navigate. We worked with the EPA's internal BIS team to oversee the coding of the site and its functionality. This collaborative approach between all parties ensured buy-in and excitement on the new site and business workflow.
The Result
The EPA's new site came in on time and on budget. Our UI/UX workshops reported positive results from all members tested. The EPA received a package of new assets to easily be used in both digital and print assets going forward.
